Analytical design method for the improvement of steel structures stability

چکیده
This article presents a design method for the improvement of steel structures stability by modifying their structural elements parameters. The available parameters can be selected from predefined list stiffness and ultimate capacities joints members. proposed procedure is based on determining critical load factor (ratio between demanding loads: αcr = Pcr / PEd) analyzing its sensitivity with respect to parameters, using gradient vector Hessian matrix. methodology well suited where second order effects are relevant. A simple two parameter example presented, general finite element analysis outlined.
